Sometimes what's making you ill is hiding right behind your bed.

I was cleaning at an elderly client's home recently. When I moved the bed to clean properly — not just around it, but behind it — I found mould on the wall. A patch that had been sitting there, hidden, completely out of sight.

My client had been struggling with her breathing. Worse at night than during the day. She mentioned it but hadn't connected it to anything in the house.

That mould was the reason.

She had no idea it was there. How would she? You can't see behind your own bed easily, and if your cleaner never moves the furniture, it just stays there — getting worse, affecting the air you breathe every single night while you sleep.

I flagged it straight away so she could get it properly treated.

This is why it matters to have someone who actually cleans — not just wipes the surfaces that are easy to reach and moves on. Dust, mould, and build-up behind furniture and in forgotten corners aren't just mess. For elderly people, for anyone with asthma or breathing problems, they can genuinely affect your health.

I move furniture. I check the areas people don't think about. And if I find something that isn't right, I tell you.

That's just how I work.
