Move-Out Cleaning Guide for Leicester Tenants

Moving out of a rental property is one of the most stressful things you can do. There's the packing, the logistics, the new property to sort — and on top of all that, you have to leave the place spotless or risk losing your deposit.
Start earlier than you think
Most people leave cleaning to the last day. That's a mistake. Deep cleaning a whole property properly takes time. Book your clean at least two days before your final checkout date. That gives you time to fix anything that gets flagged.
The oven is the most commonly failed item at checkout
Letting agents check the oven every single time. Built-up grease and burnt residue is one of the most common reasons deposits get deducted. It needs to be cleaned inside — including the racks, the glass door, and the hob. If you've never deep-cleaned an oven before, it's harder than it looks. This is one area where it's worth getting a professional in.
Don't forget the hidden spots
Inside cupboards and drawers. Behind the toilet. The top of door frames. Skirting boards. The inside of the fridge. These are the areas people miss — and the areas letting agents often check.
Or just book a professional
Honestly, the easiest way to guarantee your deposit back is to book a professional end of tenancy clean. I work to landlord and letting agent standards, cover everything on the checklist, and if anything is flagged at inspection I'll come back and fix it. End of tenancy cleaning from £150. Based in Leicester, covering Oadby, Wigston, Knighton, and surrounding areas.
